Peoples' Plan Available

Welcome to the new Web site for the recently launched comprehensive recovery planning process in the 9th Ward. This site has been established to provide local residents, business owners, institutional leaders, and elected officials with a vehicle to share their visions, hopes, and aspirations for the future of this vital area within the City of New Orleans. The goals of this effort are to create a more sustainable, vibrant, and just city through resident-led planning.

The draft of A Peoples' Plan for Overcoming the Hurricane Katrina Blues offers a comprehensive strategy to advance the recovery of the 7th and 8th planning districts of the city. The draft plan was presented for community review on Saturday, January 6th at Holy Angel's Congregational Room. The authors of the plan welcome feedback on the document from local residents, business owners, and institutional leaders. Comments are welcome before January 31 and should be sent to Ken Reardon. This plan was prepared at the request of ACORN by students, faculty, and staff of Cornell University, Columbia University, and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
